The college endeavours and makes efforts to provide ragging-free environment in the campus. Apart from strictly complying all UGC guidelines on anti-ragging and conducting orientation programme for first year students. The anti-ragging sentiments amongst all students, faculties and staff are generated by organising anti-ragging events each year. The glimpse of the events conducted as Anti-Ragging Campaign are given below.
As part of the strong college commitment to make the campus ragging-free, the college organised a Kite-Flying Event with great enthusiasm on 11 Aug 2011. The event commenced with fanfare at 2 pm after the arrival of the Dr R K Agrawal, Directer and other senior faculty members at the football ground of the college. A mammoth participation of around 800 students, 100 faculty and staff members made the event lively. Besides professional kite fliers, around 300 students flew kites of different shapes and sizes decorated with anti-ragging messages prepared by the college students. Great festival-like enthusiasm shown by boys and girls made the event a huge success. A giant-sized gas baloon with anti-ragging message put up on 10 Aug, as part of the campaign, has been floated from the Amphitheatre of the college in the sky for one month. Both the kites as well as baloon displayed the message "Ragging Free AKGEC", to spreading awareness against this evil practice.
An Anti-Ragging Poster Competition was organized in the college on 17 Aug 2011. Students from B.Tech 2nd, 3rd & 4th year of all branches and MCA participated in the competition. The over-whelming participation, quality of talents and organizing capability displayed by the students was highly appreciated by the Director. The judges had great difficulty in grading the posters as 1st, 2nd & 3rd for award of prizes.
An Anti-Ragging Essay Competition was organized with zeal in the college on 17 Aug 2011 to spread the message of Anti-Ragging. A large number of students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm and spoke passionately about the evil effects of ragging. The 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes were awarded to students by a panel of judges.
In continuation with the resolve of Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College (AKGEC) to fight the evil of Ragging, The college organised an anti-ragging 7-A-Side Football Tournament on 12 Aug 2010.
The tournament commenced with a symbolic kick off by the Directer Dr R K Agarwal at approximately 03:30pm on 12 Aug 2010 on the football ground of the college. The teams were formed from a pool of football enthusiastics through a lucky draw. Each team had a mix of students from all branches and year as well as the freshers to permote healthy interaction and camaraderie. Eight teams were formed by dividing the students community of the college and named as Kick Kings, Gunners, Classics, Automatons, Matadors, Juggernauts, Iconoclast and Bulls. Each match was preceded by the teams and spectators taking an anti-ragging pledge to ostracize the menace of Ragging from the society. The T-Shirts worn during the tournament sported strong anti-ragging message "SCORE AGAINST RAGGING."
A Mini-Marathon event was organized as Anti-Ragging Event by Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College on 9 September 2009 to demonstrate our determination to fight the evil known as “Ragging”. The program was co-sponsored by HCL and Legrand-Authorised Distributor M/s Shiv Electric Co. Ghaziabad. The media partner was “Amar Ujala”.
The Mini-Marathon was flagged off at 05:00 PM on 09 September 2009 from the college main gate by the Chief guest. About 1200 participants (Faculty, Staff and Students) took part in the event. The event was divided into two sections. The first one was named Athlete’s Run and was a competitive section. The second one was Harmony Run and was a non-competitive section.
By organizing Mini-Marathon, the college took a lead in building anti-ragging sentiments amongst the students of AKGEC as well as other colleges in NCR.
